DR. K.K.S. Bhatia, is the Director
of the College. Dr. Bhatia is a researcher and academician of
national repute and has a rich experience of 38 years in research
and teaching. Prior to joining here Dr. Bhatia was a Senior
Scientist and was responsible for coordination and management of all
research activities undertaken by the National Institute of
Hydrology, Roorkee, an outstanding Centre of Excellence in the area
of hydrological research. Dr. Bhatia graduated from BITS, Pilani in 1969 and then did his Masters in Civil Engineering. He did his Ph.D. from IIT, Bombay in “Hydrological Modeling”. He served as a Research Associate and Research Engineer at IIT, Bombay from 1976 to 1980 and later served as a Scientist at CWRDM, Kerala for three years. For the last 24 years Dr. Bhatia was with NIH, Roorkee. Dr. Bhatia has co-authored two books and has edited five books. He has more than 150 research papers in International & National journals and Proceedings of Conferences. Besides these papers he has more than 60 research, technical and consultancy project reports. Dr. Bhatia is widely traveled abroad to USA, UK, Germany, Canada, France, Japan, Pakistan & Bangladesh. Dr. Bhatia is the recipient of National Hydrology Award instituted by the Ministry of Water Resources for lifetime achievements. He has also received the Zain Yar Jung Bahadur Gold Medal of the Institution of Engineers(I) for the best paper in the Journal. In the year 2005, Dr. Bhatia was conferred with Samona Sanyal Gold Medal for best paper in the Institution of Engineers Journal. In the year 2006, Dr. Bhatia was also awarded the best paper Award by the American Society of Civil Engineering. Dr. Bhatia is presently a member of two Expert Committees of the Ministry of Environment and Forests. With the joining of Dr. Bhatia at the Vira College of Engineering, the College is taking big strides towards achieving excellence and lots of improvements and additions have taken place in infrastructure and facilities. It is expected that with in a short time, the College will rise to the status of one of the best Colleges in UP.
